Alexandre Ian Cornelius

​Alexandre Ian Cornelius is the CEO and Senior Attorney at Cornelius & Cohanghadosh, APC and practices in the areas of commercial and business litigation and transactions including, but not limited to, purchase and sale of real estate, construction related disputes (including construction defects, mechanics liens and general contractor / subcontractor disputes), finance, leasing, development, entitlements, company and entity formation and structure, bankruptcy, reorganization and creditor/debtor rights and remedies.

While in law school, Alex served as an extern to the Honorable Lisa Hill Fenning, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Central District of California.  Prior to law school, Alex worked for two years as a paralegal with Bues, Gilbert & Morrill of Phoenix, Arizona, where he managed and participated in complex real estate litigation, accountant liability, commercial litigation and bankruptcy cases.

Alex received his J.D. with distinction from Pepperdine University School of Law, California in 1995, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award and the Gunner Nichols Scholarship for academic excellence.  He also participated in moot court competitions and was the champion of the Appellate Advocacy Tournament in 1993.  He received his B.S. in Political Science with an emphasis in Philosophy and a Latin American Studies Certificate from Arizona State University in 1990.

Alex is a licensed member of the California Bar Association and is admitted to practice law in all state and various federal courts in California. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations.

​Originally from Arizona, Alex has lived in the greater Los Angeles area since 1992 and currently resides in Calabasas, California, with his wife, Elana, and their sons, Ryan and Justin.

Justin Cohanghadosh is the managing attorney at the firm and handles real estate, business and corporate matters.  In addition to handling complex litigation, Justin has extensive experience in both real estate and business transactions, including drafting agreements pertaining to the sale and purchase of real property and businesses, drafting and reviewing loan documentation, conducting title review and representing and guiding property owners through the Ellis Act process.

Prior to starting law school, Justin received his B.A. degree in Sociology from UCLA in 2014.  While at UCLA, Justin was a recipient of the Scholarship Recognition Award and was named to the Provost’s Honor List. Following his time at UCLA, Justin attended law school at Pepperdine University School of Law, graduating in May 2017 within the top 15% of his class.  Justin received Dean’s List honors for 2016 and 2017 and the CALI Award for Future Excellence in Corporations and Federal Income Taxation, for having received the highest grades in his class in those courses.  Justin also received a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and a Certificate in Law and Entrepreneurship in Real Estate from the Geoffrey H. Palmer Center.

During his time at Pepperdine, Justin was a research assistant to Pepperdine Professor Douglas W. Kmiec, who was a former U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel and U.S. Ambassador; the Note & Comment Editor and Literary Citation Editor of the Journal of Business, Entrepreneurship and the Law; and a certified law student in the FINRA Investor Advocacy Clinic.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Justin was an associate to the general counsel at RealtyMogul.com and a law clerk with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.  Justin worked under the direction of Alexandre Ian Cornelius at Costell & Cornelius Law Corporation from 2016 to 2019, as both a law clerk and an associate attorney.  In May of 2019, Justin joined Alex to form Cornelius & Cohanghadosh, APC.
